Ashrakat Elshehawy

Im Ashrakat Elshehawy and I'm from Egypt. I'm studying political science and psychology in my first semester. If I had t talk about my study experience at the University of Mannheim I will have to say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. It's really fascinating only the fact that you study everyday in a palace. When I first came here I had fear because I was alone in a new country and a new culture, in a city where I didn’t know anyone or had any relatives. When I found the way to the University, everything was very well organized by the international office, they explained everything and everything was clearly written and structured. Even though that I didn’t attend the whole orientation week because I didn’t find an earlier flight ticket, everything was clearly explained to me.

The courses offered by the University were above my expectations; every professor structured his course well and offered us help by every means possible. In addition the psychological consultation is one of the remarkable things in this University; I really like the fact that you can get help when you really need it. As an international student I've never had the feeling that it was a disadvantage being a foreigner. On the contrary every international student is being taken care of. One of the most amazing things is that the University has cooperation with the stadium generale that offers students free language courses each semester. In Addition one of the best things that happened to me since I came here was that the international office took my case into consideration and offered me a place by the Ekkhard Foundation in The guesthouse of the University.

The rooms are very clean and the house is very well prepared. Besides the communication with the managers of the guesthouse was very helpful. Also they activities that always take place in the guesthouse make the atmosphere for foreigners even better. The website of the international office is also very helpful in order to be always informed about news. I could not have wished for a better accommodation seriously. All in all I can clearly say that it was a really good choice coming to Mannheim and deciding to study here, the University is amazing by all means.
